Binance has stated that it would support upgrading the Optimism network for better performance and user experience.
Binance’s official statement also disclosed that during the upgrade period, which starts on Jan.10, 2025, at 1:00(UTC+8), deposits and withdrawals for the OP token will be temporarily unavailable starting from. Hence, it expects all users to make all necessary network transactions related to the OP network ahead of time.
The popular crypto platform also reminded users to check the official announcement for the most up-to-date information related to the upgrade of the Optimism network. The exchange also warned users to beware of misinformation or fraud attempts connected with the upgrade.
It noted that only information available on official channels is authentic. Hard forks are significant blockchain protocol updates, rendering prior versions incompatible.
These changes are crucial in securing the network, enhancing its performance, and adding new functionalities. Historically, hard forks have been pivotal in advancing blockchain ecosystems.
For instance, Ethereum’s Merge upgrade shifted the network to a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism. Such milestones highlight the blockchain team’s commitment to innovation, security, and scalability improvements.
In a related development, Binance has announced the addition of Mantra (OM) to its super stake platform (BNSOL). BNSOL holders and staked sol in BNSOL can benefit from the om APR Boost Airdrop throughout next month.
The exchange further revealed that eligible participants can claim rewards beginning January 2, 2025. Then, once the airdrop campaign ends on February 1, 2025, the exchange will automatically transfer all unclaimed airdrops to holders’ spot wallets.
Furthermore, the exchange stated that it would soon include the usual cryptocurrency as one of the assets in its open-term loan product (Binance Loan). Earlier this week, the leading crypto platform disclosed that it helped prevent $129 million in crypto losses as of November 2024.
The exchange added that it helped recover $9.1 million in scam funds to their holders.
